“Anxiety was born in the very same moment as mankind. And since we will never be able to master it, we will have to learn to live with it— just as we have learned to live with storms.”
—Paulo Coelho

Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal emotion that we all experience.  Anxiety is what helps us get out of bed in the morning, put on a great outfit, and prepare for a job interview.  It helps us study for exams, get ready for a date, arrive on time for an appointment or to work.  When anxiety becomes chronic or intense, however, it often paralyzes us and keeps us stuck.  Our work together will help reduce the power anxiety has over you so you can continue taking action towards the life you want to build.

Does this sound familiar?

  • It's 3 am, but you can't sleep because your mind just won't stop racing about everything you need to do tomorrow

  • You avoid social situations because the worry and anxiety get so bad you can't function OR you go to social events and use (or over-use) alcohol and drugs to keep the anxiety at bay

  • Your mind finds ways to worry about EVERYTHING - past, present, and future - and doesn't give you much of a break ... ever

  • The pain in your neck, shoulders, and jaw tells you just how tense you are during the day

  • You feel restless and uneasy a lot

  • Your life has shrunk to only include safe events, people, and experiences - it's challenging to put yourself out there, take risks, and do the things you want to be doing with your life

  • Sometimes it feels like everything is exhausting and you fatigue easily

  • You lose your temper easily with others - sometimes over small things

  • You feel irritated, overwhelmed, and restless ... A LOT

  • It feels impossible to focus for long enough to do longer tasks like reading a book or it's so hard to concentrate you can't get anything done

  • Sometimes the anxiety gets so bad you full on PANIC - you can't stop shaking, you feel like you're going crazy or are going to die, it feels hard to breathe, you feel light-headed and dizzy, you can't stop sobbing, you feel like you're not fully in your body, your heart rate is through the roof, your hands feel like ice ...

If any of that sounds like you ... I know you are hurting.  These kinds of experiences SUCK - they don't feel good and of course you want to get rid of them.  I want you to know that there is HOPE.

A large part of how I work includes figuring out what you want your life to look like so that we can start taking steps forward right away, while also learning new ways to relate to and be with all of these difficult experiences you're having - inside and outside your body and mind.  I will treat you like a whole human being instead of just a symptom and help you build a life you'll be happy to be living.
